What is Nifty 50's fair DCF value?

As of March 31th 2023, the Nifty 50 is down about 8% from its all-time high. This fall, though not much yet, was triggered by the US banking system crisis that began with the collapse of the Silicon Valley Bank and the Signature Bank in the US. Of course, the broader valuation of India’s Nifty 50 index at 18000 levels was also somewhat high compared to other emerging economies.

In this post, we will discuss Nifty 50’s valuation as per the discounted cash flow method. To arrive at possible fair values for India’s Nifty 50, we use three scenarios: base case, worst case, and the best case.
